Brick in Kitchens

We returned late last week from Belgium where we visited my brother and his family.  We had a great time and Luke had a blast playing with his cousins.  We're settling back into our routine and it recently occurred to me that we only have 3 more months left here in Vienna.  I can't believe it.  It has me a bit in a tizzy trying to see and do everything before we leave.

Simultaneously, I'm online house hunting daily which is seriously a downer - my fantasy of owning my dream house is seriously being compromised by reality.  Ugh.  Thank goodness for blogging which allows me to keep on dreaming! :)  Lately I've been dreaming of kitchens with a dose of brick.  Scroll down to see what I mean.

I love the juxtaposition of brick and white together with small doses of black thrown in.  In my opinion, I think the above four images really portray that nicely.

I have never really been a true lover of pine, but this kitchen has me thinking otherwise and I love how Emerson kept the original brick fireplace.  I think I would have considered painting it white, but I like that she didn't.

I have seen a lot of brick fireplaces (like the one pictured above) in my house hunting.

Do you like the look?
